After the success of our Fall 2020 workshop on cleaning gravestones, the Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society, Chief Tuskaloosa Chapter NSDAR, and Alabama Cemetery Preservation Alliance are pleased to announce another free Cemetery Preservation Workshop to clean and repair older graves in Tuscaloosa’s historic Greenwood Cemetery. This workshop will, again, be led by Jonathan Appell of Atlas Preservation based in Connecticut. (Please visit https://48statetour.com)
REQUIREMENTS TO ATTEND:
Greenwood is a city-owned cemetery and the City requires all attendees to sign a release of liability form. We also request your emergency contact information. (If you sent in the release form and contact information, for the Sept 28th workshop, you do not need to send in another one.) To receive a release form and to let us know how many people will attend, please email Becky Davenport at the email listed below.
COST: Free
LUNCH: Not provided. We suggest that you bring lunch or plan to eat at one of the restaurants or fast-food establishments nearby.
RECOMMENDED TO BRING: Lawn chair, sun screen, drinking water, hat, gloves
RESTROOMS: The First African Baptist Church will make their restrooms available to us during the workshop
COVID GUIDELINES: We will follow the Covid guidelines which are current on April 15th for masks and social distancing.
